As described in previous threads on this matter, the clock battery (BT381) is not a primary battery; it is rechargeable. BT381 is a Seiko ML414H 3V Li-Mn storage battery with 1.0 mAh nominal capacity over a 3.0 - 2.1V discharge cycle. (IC-7300 service manual, pp. 2-1 and 10-3). The battery is soldered to the Main Unit board and requires special tools for removal. For this reason, replacement is best performed by an authorised Icom service centre.

The battery data sheet (in the Files section) cautions against over-discharge, which can cause the battery to fail. For this reason, Icom has issued a recommendation to power the transceiver up periodically (e.g. for a few hours per month) to keep the battery alive. This is documented on p. 8-7 of the Basic user manual and also on a separate loose-leaf sheet. Is this procedure really too much to ask of the radio owner? 

The IC-7610, IC-9700 and IC-R8600 use the same rechargeable clock battery scheme. Evidently the decision to fit a rechargeable battery arose from a wish to minimise the need for the end-user to open the case. 

This thread keeps coming back again and again like a bad penny. Can we please make an end of it now? Icom is not going to re-design the clock circuit.

Me temo que esto es así. Si no esta enchufado a fuente (da igual que el equipo este on u off) con frecuencia, la batería interna se va descargando y se resetean los parametros de fecha y hora.
